Hotel Lobby Redesign

During the 2013 fall semester and 2014 spring semester two design studios undertook the subject of re-designing the lobby of the Baymont Inn & Suites Hotel, in Muncie Indiana. The CAP VR Environment was used in each case as a simulation tool during the design of the project. In several instances the students used the VR system to analyze the current situation of the lobby, visualize design alternatives, and present the design solutions for the problem at hand. The  illustrations above show the current state of the lobby as recreated in the VR (top row), and  images of the actual hotel (bottom row). The virtual lobby was depicted with basic colors and textures and without furniture.
